Therapy Stew was born out of a desire to take nearly 20 years of counselling experience and mesh it with the growing field of social media in order to allow everyone, regardless of means or access, a way to seek and receive psychological advice.
Who Am I?
My name is Ali and I am the creator of Therapy Stew. I grew up in Ottawa, Canada and studied psychology at McGill University in Montreal. I completed my graduate work at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles and then headed back to Ottawa to practice what I learned. I spent many years working in the community sector, running parenting groups, social skill groups, groups for survivors of trauma and practicing both child and adult psychotherapy. In later years, I moved away from the public sector into private practice, while continuing to counsel adults and children for a variety of issues. Today, I have a thriving private practice in Ottawa, Canada specializing in assessment and counselling with both children and adults. For an appointment or consultation, please feel free to contact me.
Why Therapy Stew?
Despite the availability of counseling services in the community, many individuals still look to the Internet to find answers to their questions. Through my own experiences, I recognize the power of social media. With Therapy Stew, I hope to create a place where people will come to read our articles written by experts in the field and where they can ask their own personal questions and where they will receive answers from qualified people.
So welcome to Therapy Stew. Sit down, stay a while and take in enough stew to feed your soul.

Thanks for the ‘ping back’. The best part of blogging is meeting bloggers like yourself. What a wonderful blog…I am also a therapist and nurse, blogging is such a wonderful source for information especially when it one like yours.
Therapy is not for everyone for many reasons and we can fill a void with responsible blogging.
Thanks for your kind words, Lorraine. It’s nice to get this kind of feedback. I agree that while unfortunate, therapy is not for everyone for a variety of reasons and with Therapy Stew, I do hope a small piece of the void can be filled. Thanks for reading.
Thanks for reposting my piece on children and entitlement, and for visiting my blog. I appreciate it!
You’re welcome, Stacie. You wrote a great post. I’m happy to link to it.
